Eat & Drink:

Reata

Mon – Sat: lunch 11:30 am – 2 pm / dinner 5 – 10 pm; closed Sun | 203 N 5th St, Alpine | (432) 837-9232 | link

  • “Cowboy cuisine” so good, we came back twice. I highly recommend the sour cream chicken enchiladas, roast beef sandwich with cheddar and sweet chili sauce (it’s a chef’s daily lunch special – get it if they have it!), and buttermilk pie.

Plaine (coffee)

7:30 am – 8 pm | 223-299 E Holland Ave | link

  • Run by the same team behind Frama coffee in Marfa, Plaine is a solid option for all of your caffeine needs. Make a pit stop and fuel up on coffee, matcha or tea to continue your journey through the high desert.

Stay:

Maverick Inn

1200 E Holland Ave | (432) 837-0628 | link

  • Alpine’s only “Roadhouse for Wanders”, the hotel breathes a new life into one of the city’s historic structures and offers travelers the opportunity to discover “The Last Frontier” in the desert mountains of Far West Texas. Originally built in the late 1930’s by a pioneer ranching family as Grandview Courts, and later operated as the Siesta Country Inn, the recently renovated Maverick Inn seamlessly blends Southwestern and Mexican-inspired architecture with expected conveniences, including complimentary breakfast and WiFi.
